MISSIONS
Where the parish priest requests this, weekend Eucharistic Missions can be organized by the Society for Eucharistic Adoration, which arranges a priest to speak at all parish Masses, from Friday until Sunday of a given weekend. A second priest assists with Confessions. There are homilies on Eucharistic adoration and prayer.
Children in the parochial and state schools are visited. There is catechesis on the Mass, prayer and reverence in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Most parishes which undertake a weekend Eucharistic Mission conduct Forty Hours’ Devotion over the period of the weekend, with the Blessed Sacrament exposed all day and all night. It is during this devotion that many parishioners have their first taste of making a Holy Hour and nocturnal adoration.
